Palghar Revenue Assistant Dies in Pune Hospital Two Months After Sickle Attack

Snehal Sawant, a revenue assistant working at the Palghar District Collectorate, died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pune, more than two months after she was attacked with a sickle near the Gold Cinema area in Palghar city.
The incident took place on June 12 at around 6.30 pm when Sawant was heading to her residence at Mudra Apartment. She was allegedly ambushed by her boyfriend, Amol Mule, who struck her multiple times on her neck and waist with a sickle before fleeing the scene.
Following the assault, Sawant sustained critical injuries and was initially admitted to a private hospital in Boisar. Due to the severity of her condition, she was subsequently shifted to a hospital in Pune for advanced medical care. Despite receiving treatment for over two months, she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday.
According to police, the attack was suspected to have been triggered by a relationship dispute. After the incident, the Local Crime Branch and Palghar Police launched a search operation and apprehended Mule from the Varkhunti area following a two-to-three-day hunt.
Mule was employed at the Bombay High Court at the time of the incident. A case was registered at the Palghar Police Station in connection with the attack, and the Palghar Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
