Panvel Civic Body Proposes Rs 54.51 Crore Divyang Bhavan in New Panvel

The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has proposed setting up a fully equipped Divyang Bhavan in New Panvel to provide comprehensive support and rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities. The planned facility is envisioned as a one-stop centre offering education, vocational training, rehabilitation, counselling, and healthcare services.
The project carries an estimated cost of Rs 54,51,13,176. The proposal is now slated to be placed before the upcoming general body meeting of the civic body for administrative and financial approval, while the detailed estimate is currently being processed for technical approval.
According to the civic body, the facility has been planned to help persons with disabilities overcome physical and other challenges, fostering greater independence and self-reliance. In addition to rehabilitation and counselling, the centre will provide allied medical care, physiotherapy, educational facilities, and various skill-development programmes.
The PMC has already appointed an architectural consultancy for the project.
The civic body's original budget for 2025-26 and 2026-27 includes a provision of Rs 40 crore under the budget head dedicated to rehabilitation and services for persons with disabilities and intellectual disabilities. Because the total estimated cost of Rs 54.51 crore exceeds this allocation, and the full expenditure is unlikely to occur within a single financial year, the PMC plans to execute the project in phases, subject to securing all necessary administrative, technical, and financial clearances.
