Parked tourist bus destroyed in midnight fire on Nashik Road in Bhiwandi

A parked, privately owned tourist bus was completely destroyed after a major fire broke out on Nashik Road in the Chavindra area of Bhiwandi. The incident occurred shortly after midnight at around 12:30 AM on Friday, July 4, 2026, triggering temporary panic among local residents and motorists in the vicinity.
Passers-by first noticed smoke billowing from the stationary vehicle, which belonged to a private tours and travels operator. Within minutes, the blaze intensified rapidly, completely engulfing the bus and sending towering flames visible from a considerable distance into the night sky.
Upon being alerted by local residents, personnel from the Nizampura Police and the Bhiwandi Fire Brigade rushed to the spot. Firefighters launched an immediate operation to contain the blaze. Although they succeeded in dousing the flames after sustained efforts, the tourist bus was already reduced to a charred shell.
Following the firefighting operation, police and fire officials conducted a thorough search of the burnt vehicle and the surrounding area to ensure no one was trapped inside. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle was unoccupied when the fire started, averting a major tragedy. No injuries or casualties were reported.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Officials have initiated an investigation to determine the origin of the blaze, and are examining an electrical short circuit as a possible cause. The police have registered the incident and are currently awaiting further findings from a technical inquiry.
The incident caused brief concern among commuters using the busy Nashik Road stretch. In the wake of the fire, local residents have urged authorities to strengthen safety measures for heavy vehicles parked along public roads for extended periods, calling for regular inspections to minimise the risk of similar accidents in the future.
