Parksite Police File Arson FIR After Vikhroli Murder Scene House Gutted
The Parksite police in Mumbai have registered an FIR against an unidentified person for allegedly setting fire to a house in Rahul Nagar, Parksite, Vikhroli (West), days after a father and his 14-year-old son were killed on the premises during a family dispute.
The FIR was registered on the complaint of 63-year-old Vijaylakshmi Vishwakarma, the owner of the house and mother of the deceased Sunil Vishwakarma. The arson incident occurred after the police had sealed the house following the double murder that took place on August 6.
According to the FIR, a dispute erupted at around 12:15 am on August 6 at Shinde Chawl in Shiv Chhaya Society, Rahul Nagar, over allegedly playing obscene songs loudly on a mobile phone. The argument escalated into a knife attack, resulting in the deaths of 40-year-old Sunil Vishwakarma and his 14-year-old son Shlok.
Sunil’s wife, Anju, and their younger son sustained serious injuries in the attack and are undergoing medical treatment. Following the double murder, the police arrested Surendra alias Sonu, his wife Preeti, and their younger brother Suraj before sealing the premises.
On August 10, the sealed house caught fire and was completely gutted. Neighbours reported seeing smoke coming from the structure around 2:00 am, and the house was entirely engulfed in flames by approximately 5:00 am.
In her complaint, Vijaylakshmi alleged that an unidentified individual deliberately threw burning embers inside the house to set it ablaze. She had been staying with her elder son Anil, 45, and his family on Tulinj Road in Nalasopara (East) for the past 15 to 20 days.
Vijaylakshmi had previously resided at the Rahul Nagar property with her three sons and their families. The house, registered in her name, had been partitioned after the brothers began living separately.
The Parksite police have registered the case under Section 326(g) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched a further investigation into the incident.
