Pathology Lab Worker Stabbed to Death in Malad East, Unemployed Husband Flees

A 29-year-old pathology laboratory worker was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband following a domestic dispute at their residence in Shivsagar Society in Kurar village, Malad East, early Sunday morning. The deceased victim has been identified as Suchita Salunkhe, while the accused husband has been identified as Akash Salunkhe.
According to law enforcement officials, the violent incident took place between 1:45 am and 2:15 am inside the couple's home. Following the stabbing, Akash took his injured wife to Shatabdi Hospital to seek medical treatment. However, upon arrival at the facility, doctors declared Suchita dead. The accused then allegedly abandoned the hospital and fled, leaving the couple's four-year-old son behind.
Initial investigations by the Kurar police revealed that Suchita and Akash had a love marriage approximately five years ago. The couple resided in Shivsagar Society along with their young son. While Suchita maintained employment as a worker at a pathology laboratory, Akash was unemployed and allegedly suffered from addictions to alcohol and drugs.
Police officials noted that Akash frequently demanded money from his wife, which repeatedly triggered heated arguments between the two inside their home. During one such confrontation early Sunday morning, the argument escalated into severe violence. Akash allegedly attacked Suchita during the fight, stabbing her directly in the chest and inflicting fatal injuries.
Following the death, the Kurar police registered a formal case of murder against Akash Salunkhe. Police teams have officially launched a search operation to locate and arrest the suspect, who remains on the run.
