Patients Including Newborn Rescued From Stalled Lift at Thane Civil Hospital

A major tragedy was averted at the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Civil Hospital after a hospital elevator suddenly came to a halt midway, trapping four to five patients inside, including a newborn baby.

The sudden stoppage of the lift caused panic among those trapped inside the confined space. Some of the patients stuck inside were undergoing medical care and had saline needles attached to their hands while waiting for help.

Security personnel rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the stalled lift. Working alongside technicians, the security staff managed to open the elevator doors and safely evacuate everyone trapped inside.

No injuries or casualties were reported during or following the rescue effort.

Visuals of the incident were later shared widely on the internet. Purported video footage showed security personnel assisting in the rescue of the patients and others who were stuck inside the hospital elevator.

While all occupants were brought out safely, the incident has raised serious questions regarding the technical systems and equipment maintenance at the Thane Municipal Corporation's Civil Hospital.
