Pet Dog Attacks and Bites Young Child at Housing Society in Kalyan West

A young child was injured after being attacked and bitten by a pet dog at the Saisharan building in the Wadekar area of Kalyan West. The entire incident, which occurred near the entrance of the housing complex, was recorded by a CCTV camera installed on the society premises.
According to available information, two children were on their way out of the residential building when the pet dog suddenly approached them near the gate. The animal caught one of the children off guard and attacked, biting the child before the victim fell to the ground with injuries.
The CCTV footage of the incident subsequently surfaced, triggering widespread worry and concern among parents and residents in the neighbourhood. The event has once again intensified discussions surrounding the safety of children within residential complexes.
Residents noted that incidents involving dog attacks have repeatedly created anxiety across the wider Kalyan-Dombivli area. The fact that the latest incident involved a pet dog rather than a stray has brought pet owners' responsibilities to the forefront, highlighting the need to ensure domestic animals do not pose a danger to neighbours and young children.
Local residents have called on pet owners to strictly follow all applicable rules and guidelines when keeping animals in housing societies and walking them in public spaces. They stressed that adequate precautions must be implemented to avert similar attacks and maintain a safe environment for all residents.
Following the circulation of the footage, social workers have also stepped in to demand that local authorities take appropriate legal and administrative action against the owner of the dog involved in the attack.
