Police arrest Govandi resident for threatening to kill passenger on Mumbai local train

The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Railway Police have arrested a 36-year-old man after a video of him threatening to kill a fellow passenger on a local train near Govandi went viral on social media. The incident took place on a CSMT-bound slow local train as it was passing near the Govandi railway station, causing significant alarm among the commuters on board.
The arrested individual has been identified by the authorities as Ramzan Fakir Qureshi, who is also known by the alias Ibba. Qureshi, a resident of the Govandi locality, was tracked down and arrested by the police at Reay Road. The arrest was made possible through a technical investigation conducted by the law enforcement officers.
According to officials from the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Railway Police, the incident occurred at approximately 10:34 PM on June 29. Qureshi was reportedly travelling on the CSMT-bound slow local train in a heavily intoxicated state. While the train was passing near Govandi station, he allegedly began threatening another passenger over a trivial issue.
The confrontation and the explicit threats to kill the fellow commuter created widespread panic among the passengers travelling in the same compartment. A video recording of the altercation was captured during the journey and was subsequently shared across various social media platforms.
The video circulated widely on social media, prompting swift action from the railway police. Upon viewing the footage, officials launched an immediate search for the suspect. Through technical investigation and tracking, the police were able to pinpoint Qureshi's location at Reay Road.
The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Railway Police successfully apprehended and took the suspect into custody within 24 hours of the video going viral online. Authorities have stated that further investigation into the circumstances of the threats and the incident is currently underway.
