The Kashigaon Police have launched a manhunt for the unidentified driver of a Haryana-registered Mahindra Thar Roxx following a hit-and-run incident near the Kashigaon Metro Station in Mira Road, near Mumbai. The incident, which was captured on CCTV and widely shared on social media, resulted in multiple motorcyclists being knocked down.
The police action was initiated after video footage of the collision surfaced online. The CCTV clip shows the Haryana-registered SUV, bearing license plate number HR 98 X 5101, attempting to force its way through a narrow gap next to a motorcycle.
As the Mahindra Thar moves ahead, it strikes a motorcycle carrying two people. The impact of the collision sent both riders crashing directly onto the road.
Rather than stopping to render assistance to the fallen riders, the driver of the SUV fled the scene. Seconds after the initial collision, the vehicle allegedly struck another two-wheeler before speeding away from the area entirely.
The video clip of the incident was shared on the social media platform X, where a user alleged that the hit-and-run took place near the Kashigaon Metro Station and involved at least two different motorcycles.
Following the online circulation of the footage, the Kashigaon Police confirmed that a formal case had been registered against the driver of the vehicle.
An FIR (No. 0334/2026) has been registered at the Kashigaon Police Station. The unidentified driver of the Mahindra Thar faces charges under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Additionally, charges have been filed under Sections 184 and 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
