Police Probe Conflicting Claims in Viral Bandra Road Rage Incident

A road rage incident that took place in Bandra around 12.15 am on August 9 has led to conflicting claims between a fitness trainer and the occupants of another vehicle, prompting an investigation by local police.
The confrontation occurred near Bandra station, located close to the Bandra police station and the DCP office. Following the circulation of viral videos showing the dispute, police registered a case, issued notices to the accused individuals, and began examining CCTV and dashcam footage alongside statements from both sides.
The viral footage captured fitness trainer Arjunjit Garewal and his wife in a heated confrontation with several men travelling in a Mahindra XUV700. In the video, Garewal's wife can be heard stating that she had alerted the police helpline, while men were seen moving aggressively towards the couple before fellow motorists and local residents intervened to defuse the altercation.
Bilal Shaikh, also referred to as Bilal Khan, one of the men involved in the confrontation, released a video on social media detailing his version of events. He claimed the dispute started when Garewal overtook his car, scratched it, and drove away. Bilal alleged that after he chased the vehicle to seek compensation, Garewal rammed his car three times and initiated a physical attack with a bamboo stick or rod, leaving dents on the vehicle and causing injuries to his hand.
In response, Garewal rejected the allegations, stating that new CCTV and dashcam recordings substantiate his account. Garewal claimed that the other vehicle jumped a traffic signal, obstructed his path, and rammed his car. He stated that a group of men surrounded his car near Bandra station, with some allegedly carrying weapons, and maintained that he held a stick solely for self-defence.
Garewal added that the confrontation has caused severe distress to his family, noting that his wife has struggled to return to work following the incident. Police officials continue to review the submitted footage and statements to determine the sequence of events.
