Police Recreate Ketan Agarwal Murder Scene with Accused Siya Goyal at Lohagad Fort

On Sunday, Pune Rural Police took murder accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary to Lohagad Fort near Lonavala to recreate the crime scene where Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal was allegedly pushed off a cliff to his death. The recreation exercise is part of the ongoing investigation into the June 18 incident, with police also questioning Goyal's parents on the same day to probe a suspected motive of family pressure regarding marriage.
Pune Rural Police Superintendent Sandeep Singh Gill confirmed that the two accused were taken to the specific spot at Lohagad Fort where the incident occurred to help investigators understand the sequence of events. Goyal and Chaudhary were arrested on June 23 and have been remanded to police custody until June 29.
Earlier on Sunday, Goyal's parents, Pravin Goyal and Pooja Goyal, appeared before the Lonavala police for questioning. Investigators suspect that Siya Goyal was unwilling to marry Agarwal and was under family pressure to go ahead with the wedding. Police believe this pressure may have been one of the factors behind the alleged murder of the Pune businessman.
Meanwhile, a video has surfaced on social media purportedly showing Siya Goyal attending a private party in Singapore. The clip, believed to be from December 10, 2022, shows Goyal dancing at a dimly lit venue with disco lights and music. While the video has gone viral online, its authenticity has not been independently verified by the authorities.
Following the incident, the Maharashtra government approved the setting up of a fast-track court to hear the case. Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Ujjwal Nikam has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor. This decision was taken after Agarwal's father met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Pune to seek speedy justice. Fadnavis assured the family that strict action would be taken and the case would be fast-tracked.
