The threat triggered an immediate, comprehensive search operation by local police and specialized security agencies before being declared a hoax.
According to police officials, the security scare began at approximately 12:13 a.m. when an unidentified man placed a call to the Navi Mumbai Police Control Room. During the call, the man allegedly claimed, "Dawood has planted a bomb at the Taj Hotel."
Upon receiving the threat, the Navi Mumbai authorities immediately relayed the critical information to the Mumbai Police Main Control Room. This prompted a swift mobilization of emergency services to the Colaba landmark.
Teams from the Colaba Police, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch, and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the Taj Hotel. Security personnel launched an extensive and systematic check of the entire property to ensure public safety.
During the exhaustive search, security teams thoroughly inspected the hotel's main lobby, swimming pool area, banquet halls, and restaurants. The search also extended to the parking areas, outer premises, and various other sensitive locations across the hotel grounds.
Following a rigorous inspection of all targeted areas, the police confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosive materials were found on the premises. Authorities subsequently declared that the bomb threat was a hoax.
A technical investigation was launched immediately to trace the source of the call. Investigators revealed that the threatening call had originated from the Turbhe area of Navi Mumbai.
The Mumbai Police have initiated a search to identify and arrest the caller, utilizing the mobile phone number that was used to make the threat. Local authorities are currently working in coordination with the Turbhe Police to trace and apprehend the suspect.
The Taj Hotel in Colaba is historically sensitive, having been one of the primary targets during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, which resulted in the deaths of 166 people and left hundreds of others injured.
