Police Sub-Inspector Dies by Suicide Near Khatkali Bypass in Hingoli

A 50-year-old Police Sub-Inspector allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a moving train near the Khatkali bypass area on the outskirts of Hingoli on Saturday morning.

The deceased officer has been identified as Amol Vithalrao Gangalwad, who was posted at the Hingoli police control room. According to police officials, the incident occurred at around 8:30 am.

Gangalwad, who was dressed in his official uniform, jumped in front of an Akola-bound passenger train approaching from Purna. Following the incident, the locomotive pilot immediately alerted railway authorities, who then informed the local police.

Senior police officers along with personnel from the Hingoli City police station reached the location shortly after receiving the alert and conducted a panchanama of the spot.

Officials stated that Gangalwad had been transferred from Parbhani to the Hingoli Police Control Room a couple of months ago.

Police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated an investigation. The exact motive behind the step remains unconfirmed as no suicide note was found at the scene.
