Prabhadevi Residents Oppose Siddhivinayak Renovation Before Ganpati Festival

Residents in Prabhadevi have expressed strong opposition to proposed renovation work around the Siddhivinayak Temple, threatening to stage a large-scale protest if the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation does not address their grievances.

Local residents are demanding that the civic body postpone the planned renovation project until after the upcoming Ganpati festival, which is scheduled to begin on September 14.

The project has also led to conflicting claims between local representatives and civic authorities regarding the timing and origin of the renovation plan.

According to Raut, the BMC claimed that the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust had asked the civic administration to begin the renovation immediately. However, the temple trust denied making any such demand, clarifying that the renovation work falls under the corporation's jurisdiction.

Raut stated that the community has clearly conveyed that the work should not commence during the festival period, warning that starting construction now will cause severe inconvenience for local residents, visiting devotees, and traffic movement across the Prabhadevi area.
