Prabhadevi Station Approach Road Cleared to Ease Commute for Thousands

Local authorities have cleared the congested and unsafe approach road outside the Prabhadevi railway station in Mumbai, easing the daily commute for thousands of passengers. The cleanup of the stretch was completed by July 12, 2026, following a mid-day report on June 30, 2026, which highlighted the hazardous conditions at the site.
The approach road to the Prabhadevi station, which was formerly known as Elphinstone Road station, had become highly congested due to ongoing bridge demolition works. The construction activities left the vital pathway in a state that posed significant safety risks to the public.
Before the intervention by local authorities, daily commuters were forced to navigate a narrow and muddy pathway to access the station. This temporary walkway was lined with heavy machinery and cluttered with construction materials and debris, making the daily walk treacherous for the thousands of people who use the station.
In response to these conditions being highlighted by mid-day on June 30, 2026, authorities initiated cleanup operations. Within less than two weeks of the report, teams cleared the accumulated construction materials from the stretch and installed protective barricades to separate pedestrians from the ongoing demolition work.
The completion of the clearing work on the approach road has brought immediate relief to the local commuting public. The removal of heavy machinery and debris from the pedestrian path has restored safe and eased movement outside the busy railway station. Daily commuters no longer have to negotiate the narrow, muddy pathway that previously hindered their access to the station.
