Pratap Sarnaik Alleges BJP Won Mira-Bhayandar Civic Polls Using Bogus Votes

Shiv Sena minister Pratap Sarnaik has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation with the help of bogus voters whose names have now been removed during an electoral roll revision process in Mira-Bhayandar.

The municipal jurisdiction comprises two assembly segments: the 145 Mira-Bhayandar and 146 Ovala-Majiwada constituencies. According to Sarnaik, a total of 5,14,955 voters were previously registered across the two constituencies. During the special intensive revision process, approximately two lakh names were deleted after being identified as bogus entries.

Speaking at a press conference, Sarnaik stated that only around three lakh voters now remain on the official electoral rolls. He noted that the mapping of another 47,901 voters remains pending, while discrepancies have been detected in the names of 48,379 voters.

Sarnaik claimed that roughly 55 percent of the earlier electoral roll comprised fake or bogus entries. He argued that the large-scale deletion of nearly two lakh names raised serious questions regarding the credibility of previous rolls and alleged that the BJP secured its victory in the civic body on the strength of those votes.

BJP MLA Narendra Mehta rejected Sarnaik's allegations, describing the claims as ridiculous.
