Pratap Sarnaik Gives MSRTC Officials One Month To Improve Earnings Or Face Action

MUMBAI — On Monday, 29 June, 2026, Maharashtra Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnaik issued a strict one-month ultimatum to officials of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) to improve the corporation's revenue performance.
According to an official statement released on Monday, the transport minister warned that officials who fail to show concrete improvement in earnings within the one-month deadline will face disciplinary action.
Minister Pratap Sarnaik, who also serves as the Chairman of the MSRTC, made it clear that the current financial decline of the state-run corporation is unsustainable. Sarnaik stated that such financial decline cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
The official statement detailed that the disciplinary actions for failing to boost revenue could include transfer, demotion, or suspension from service.
The decision places immediate pressure on MSRTC officials to turn around the corporation's financial performance. Officials must now implement measures to boost earnings within the next month.
Officials who do not show measurable progress in revenue generation by the end of the one-month period face the risk of being demoted, transferred, or suspended from their duties. The official statement emphasized that the performance of these officials will be closely monitored to ensure compliance with the new directive.
