Rahul Himalian Appointed Additional CMD of IRCTC After Sanjay Kumar Jain Resigns

The Ministry of Railways announced the appointment of Rahul Himalian as the additional Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in Mumbai. The official announcement, made on July 19, 2026, follows the resignation of Sanjay Kumar Jain from the top post.
According to officials, the appointment of Himalian to the additional charge will take effect on Monday, July 20, 2026. The transition aims to maintain leadership and management continuity at the Navratna public sector undertaking.
Himalian currently holds the position of Director of Tourism and Marketing at IRCTC. With the new appointment, he will take on the responsibilities of the Chairman and Managing Director in an additional capacity.
The change in leadership was necessitated by the resignation of Sanjay Kumar Jain, who stepped down from his role as the Chairman and Managing Director. Following his departure, the Ministry of Railways moved to fill the vacant top post by appointing Himalian to lead the public sector undertaking.
As a Navratna public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, IRCTC operates key services across the country. The transition of leadership to Himalian on Monday, July 20, 2026, ensures that the corporation's management remains stable.
Officials confirmed that Himalian will take charge of his new responsibilities starting Monday, marking the official commencement of his tenure as the additional Chairman and Managing Director of IRCTC.
