Raj Thackeray Accuses State Govt of Keeping Locals in Dark Over Third Mumbai

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday accused the Maharashtra state government of keeping people in the dark regarding its development plans for the proposed "Third Mumbai" city, located across coastal Raigad district.

Thackeray claimed that the development of the new city will attract outsiders at the direct expense of local residents whose land is being acquired for the project.

The proposed "Third Mumbai", officially known as the Karnala-Sai-Chirner (KSC) New Town, is planned as a smart city spanning roughly 323 to 334 square kilometres across 124 villages in coastal Raigad district.

The initiative aims to decongest the larger Mumbai Metropolitan Region and serve as a driver for regional economic growth.
