Reservation Decided Only Within Constitution, Says Devendra Fadnavis in Pune

Speaking to the media in Pune on Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the state government will listen to reservation demands from different communities but will take decisions strictly within the framework of the Constitution and established rules.

His remarks come amid renewed debate in the state over Maratha and Other Backward Class (OBC) quota demands, as well as ongoing criticism involving minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

Addressing reporters, Fadnavis emphasized that the state administration remains open to hearing grievances while staying firmly bound by legal parameters.

"The government runs according to the Constitution and will continue to do so. It does not function under pressure or outside the rules. However, the government listens to everyone," Fadnavis said in Pune.

Fadnavis reiterated that while community representations will be heard, the government will not function under external pressure or stray beyond constitutional regulations in making its decisions.
