Residents Rescue 18-Year-Old Man Attempting Suicide in Dahisar East

An 18-year-old man was rescued by alert local residents on Wednesday after he attempted to end his life by jumping from a building balcony in Dahisar East, Mumbai. The incident took place at the Janakalyan Building, where neighbours intervened just in time to pull the teenager back to safety and prevent a major tragedy from occurring in the locality.
The young man had reportedly gone to the balcony of his aunt's residence, which he was visiting at the time, with the intention of ending his life. A resident who noticed the situation immediately stepped in to help. The resident managed to distract the teenager by talking to him, keeping him engaged while other people prepared to intervene.
Other local residents who saw the unfolding situation rushed to assist. Together, they managed to reach the young man and successfully pulled him back from the edge of the balcony to safety, ensuring he was out of harm's way.
A video of the dramatic rescue went viral on social media platforms. The footage captured the tense and anxious moments as the neighbours rushed to stop the teenager and successfully secured him before he could jump.
The 18-year-old allegedly decided to take his own life due to personal distress. He was reportedly upset about being unemployed and was also dealing with mental stress caused by frequent fights between his parents at home.
Following the incident, the Dahisar Police took cognisance of the matter. The local police department has registered a case and an investigation is currently underway to look into the details of the event.
The incident has once again drawn local attention to the critical issues of stress and depression among young people. Factors such as youth unemployment, frequent family disputes, and an inability to openly express emotional distress are often cited as contributing reasons behind such incidents.
