Retired Bombay HC Judge Sunil Shukre Takes Oath as Maharashtra Lokayukta at Lok Bhavan

Retired Bombay High Court judge Justice Sunil Shukre was appointed as the Lokayukta of Maharashtra on Tuesday, taking formal charge of the state's anti-corruption ombudsman institution.

Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office to Justice Shukre at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai.

Key state leaders attended the event and offered their felicitations. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar congratulated Justice Shukre following the swearing-in ceremony.

With this oath, the former Bombay High Court judge assumes the official responsibilities of leading the state's anti-corruption watchdog.
