RPG Foundation Adopts Sewri Fort for Upkeep Under Maharashtra State Scheme

The RPG Foundation has adopted the historic Sewri Fort in Mumbai for upkeep under the Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Department's Vaibhav Sangopan Yojana scheme, while continuing parallel heritage conservation efforts at Worli Fort and Worli Koliwada.
Under the state-approved adoption at Sewri Fort, plans have been set in motion to develop a dedicated museum and information centre on the site. The museum will be designed to showcase the fort's history, culture, environment, and its direct connection to Mumbai's maritime heritage.
In Worli, a similar conservation and enhancement drive is already in progress across both Worli Fort and the adjacent Worli Koliwada neighbourhood. The initiative focuses on local infrastructure, public awareness, and visual improvements across the historic fishing settlement.
Work executed in Worli Koliwada so far includes the installation of more than 71 street lights to improve local illumination, more than 30 information boards detailing heritage and local context, and more than seven public murals across public spaces.
Conservation efforts by the foundation are also actively under way at Mumbai's historic Banganga Tank. The project in the precinct aims to protect the area's heritage and highlight its cultural and historical significance for the wider public.
At the Banganga Tank site, community-focused initiatives have trained more than 150 women in entrepreneurship, tailoring, and health. The initiative has also connected more than 500 tourists to the heritage landmark through various organised events and experiential activities.
