The property listing was shared on Instagram by property dealer and influencer Bhavesh Kaware, operating under the name Property Transaction Guru. The video gained significant traction online, accumulating more than 46,000 views and receiving over 700 likes as viewers reacted to the exclusionary clause.
According to the listing details, the apartment covers a carpet area of 900 square feet and features an attached balcony providing panoramic views of the South Mumbai skyline and the sea. The property package also includes dedicated surface or podium parking space rather than mechanical or basement parking. However, the listing prominently stated 'Vegetarian Only', indicating that non-vegetarian buyers and residents are not permitted to purchase or reside in the flat.
The condition triggered online backlash, with social media users asking why personal food choices should determine housing access. Several commentators tagged government authorities and political leaders, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, urging them to take action against such restrictive practices.
Shinde Sena youth leader Gurjyot Singh Keer was among those reacting to the listing, publicly criticizing the promotional post and questioning the exclusionary condition. The episode reflects an ongoing controversy in Mumbai's competitive real estate market, where flat buyers frequently encounter residential societies attempting to impose restrictions based on dietary habits, community background, or personal preferences.
