Sachin Waze Seeks Sealed NIA Case Diary in Mansukh Hiran Murder Case

Dismissed police officer Sachin Waze has moved a plea before the court seeking the production of the case diary maintained by National Investigation Agency (NIA) officers during their probe into the Antillia bomb scare case and the related murder of Thane trader Mansukh Hiran.

In the application submitted on Tuesday, Waze requested that both the case diary and the station diary recorded by the investigating agency during the course of the probe be summoned by the court. He specifically pleaded that these official investigation records be preserved and kept in a sealed condition before the prosecution begins examining its witnesses and calls its first witness to testify in the courtroom.

Outlining his reasons for the request, Waze highlighted what he described as several alleged lacunas and shortcomings in the investigation carried out by the NIA. Among the key gaps cited in his plea, Waze claimed that the central agency failed to record the statement of the actual victims of the threat. Additionally, he asserted in his submission that the investigating team seems not to have visited the actual spot where the incident took place.

Waze further pleaded before the court that if these records are not secured promptly, the alleged deficiencies in the probe could be altered as the matter proceeds. He argued that as the court begins to conduct the trials, the existing lacunae will be duly polished and amended, which would result in the truth remaining out of the reach of the court.

Stressing the importance of procedural fairness, Waze claimed in his plea that timely reference to the case diary is necessary and desirable for a just decision in the case. He noted that securing and reviewing the investigation diary is an essential aspect of the well-settled principles of a fair trial and the pursuit of unravelling the truth.
