Sahakar Panel Wins All 21 Seats Unopposed In Mumbai Cooperative Board Elections
All candidates belonging to the Sahakar Panel have been elected unopposed to the Board of Directors of the Mumbai Cooperative Board in Mumbai for the five-year term spanning from 2026 to 2031.
The Sahakar Panel, led by Maharashtra State Cooperative Union president and MLA Pravin Darekar alongside Shivajirao Nalawade, Siddharth T. Kamble, Prasad Lad, and Nandkumar Katkar, secured all 21 director positions without any contest.
Pravin Darekar stated that the unopposed election reflects unity, mutual trust, and a positive approach among stakeholders in the cooperative sector towards the development and broader interests of the institution. He noted that the decision sent a clear message that the cooperative sector has chosen coordination over confrontation, cooperation over competition, and institutional interests over individual considerations.
The 21 newly elected directors are Pravin Yashwant Darekar, Milind Tatu Kamble, Ankush Ramchandra Jadhav, Amol Shripati Kharat, Varsha Ajit Mali, Shivajirao Vishnu Nalawade, Nitin Dhondiram Bankar, Satish Dattaram Sawardekar, Vijay Govind Jadhav, Anil Dattatray Gajre, Shankar Kashinath Ayyappa, Balasaheb Dinkar Ghadge, Milind Govind Raut, Shridhar Vishwanath Jagtap, Kishor Dattatray Patankar, Pravin Dayaru Dikle, Suresh Vitthal Bholerao, Vitthal Dnyaneshwar Valunj, Jayant Laxman Shirsikar, Madan Dadasaheb Yadav, and Anisha A. Majgaonkar.
Outlining the priorities of the new leadership, Darekar said the board will work towards strengthening the cooperative movement across Mumbai. Key focus areas will include establishing an effective platform to address issues faced by cooperative societies, as well as providing regular training and guidance to office-bearers and members.
The incoming board also plans to emphasize the adoption of modern technology, increased transparency, and higher levels of professionalism across cooperative sector operations to align with changing times. Darekar expressed confidence that the board will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to provide a broader and more dynamic direction to the city's cooperative network.
Following the results, several cooperative institutions, activists, and office-bearers extended their congratulations to the new board. Among those offering formal felicitations were Prakash Darekar, chairman of the Ward Committee and Mumbai Housing Federation; Vitthalrao Bhosale, chairman of the Maharashtra State Cooperative Consumers Federation Ltd.; and Sunil Bambbulkar, chairman of the Mumbai-Konkan Divisional Labour Cooperative Union.
