Sakinaka Police Book Delivery Boy for Alleged Rs 12.37 Lakh LED TV Swap Fraud

The Sakinaka police have registered a case of cheating and breach of trust against a former parcel delivery boy after he allegedly swapped 25 new LED televisions worth Rs 12.37 lakh with old television sets before delivering them to customers across the city.
The accused, identified as 24-year-old Aliyas Moda, worked for an e-commerce firm operating out of an office in Andheri (East). According to police, Moda targeted high-value consignments, replacing new television sets ranging from 50 inches to 75 inches with discarded and old units midway along his delivery routes.
The fraud came to light when customers began flagging discrepancies upon receiving their orders. Several buyers refused to accept the parcels after noticing damaged packaging and discovering that the products inside did not match the models they had purchased. Among those who rejected a delivery was Mayuresh Pai, director of LM Music Studio in Versova, a recording and dubbing studio associated with Bollywood film productions.
Following multiple customer complaints regarding mismatched and broken sets, officials at the e-commerce company's warehouse in Chandivli initiated an internal investigation. Warehouse staff reviewed operational records and examined CCTV footage recorded between May 25 and July 10 to trace how the parcels were being tampered with during transit.
After gathering evidence of the fraudulent swaps, warehouse authorities submitted a formal complaint to the local police. Moda was subsequently sacked from his position at the delivery firm.
According to Sakinaka police senior inspector Avinash Mandle, the First Information Report was officially registered on Monday following the receipt of the complaint from warehouse representatives. Police confirmed that an active investigation is underway to track down the suspect, and no arrests have been made so far.
