Samruddhi Expressway Traffic Resumes After GAIL Pipeline Gas Leak in Gangapur

Traffic along the Samruddhi Expressway resumed early Sunday morning after a gas leak from a GAIL pipeline near Takliwadi in Gangapur taluka of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district led to precautionary road diversions.

The incident was reported around 5 p.m. on Saturday along a 24-kilometre stretch of the expressway. Following the leak, the local district administration initiated safety protocols and temporarily halted regular traffic flow in the affected sector.

During the diversion, vehicles travelling towards Nagpur were instructed to exit at the Maliwada interchange, use the Dhule-Solapur highway, and re-enter the expressway at Hadas Pimpalgaon.

District Collector Vinay Gowda stated that precautionary measures were undertaken immediately after the leak was detected. The administration alerted officials from GAIL to inspect the site and placed fire-fighting teams on standby.

According to district officials, regular vehicular movement was restored between the Hadas Pimpalgaon and Maliwada sections of the Samruddhi Highway at 4 a.m. on Sunday.
