Sanjay Raut Demands UAPA Case Against Mumbai MP Sanjay Dina Patil Over Bomb Remarks

On Thursday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut submitted a formal complaint to Mumbai Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti, demanding the immediate arrest of recently defected Sena MP Sanjay Dina Patil under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The complaint, filed in Mumbai, follows controversial public remarks where Patil allegedly threatened protesters with bombs and claimed to have committed multiple murders.

The dispute escalation comes two days after a verbal duel between Raut and Patil, who represents the North East Mumbai constituency.

In his letter to the police commissioner, Raut urged the authorities to book Patil under the stringent anti-terror law. Raut highlighted that Patil had allegedly threatened to enter the homes of citizens who bother him and hit them with a bomb. Raut raised concerns about whether the Member of Parliament was storing or manufacturing explosives at his residence.

Furthermore, Raut demanded that Patil be booked for murder, pointing to a self-confessed claim by the MP. According to the complaint, Patil publicly declared that he had "killed 5 people before" and warned protesters to secure medical and life insurance because they would be sent to the hospital or the crematorium.

Raut urged the Mumbai police to launch an immediate investigation into who these five individuals were, as well as when and why Patil allegedly killed them. He argued that since the MP made a self-confession, a murder case must be registered against him without delay.

Addressing the background of the conflict, Raut stated that six MPs have become subjects of widespread hatred across the state. He noted that there is immense anger among the people of Maharashtra regarding a recent political split, leading to street protests against what voters view as gross fraud.

Raut defended the actions of the public, stating that protesting and demanding answers from elected representatives are constitutional rights. He accused the North East Mumbai MP of being "spoiled" and using lethal threats to silence democratic dissent.
