Sanjay Raut Urges Maharashtra Government to Reconsider App-Based Bike Taxi Policy

Shiv Sena (UBT) Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut has urged the Maharashtra government to reconsider its decision to permit app-based bike taxi services, warning that the move could put the livelihoods of thousands of auto-rickshaw drivers at serious risk.
In a letter addressed to Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik dated August 23, Raut formally appealed to the administration to re-examine the transport policy.
Raut stated that he was raising the issue on behalf of unemployed and working Marathi youth. He pointed out that a significant number of young individuals across Maharashtra depend directly on driving auto-rickshaws to earn an income and support their families.
According to the parliamentarian, allowing app-based bike taxis to operate creates direct competition that threatens the financial stability of traditional auto-rickshaw operators throughout the state.
