Sanjay Shirsat Accuses Uddhav Thackeray of Weakening Shiv Sena UBT with Ego

In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat launched a sharp political attack against Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Shirsat criticized Thackeray’s recent tour of the constituencies of six rebel Lok Sabha MPs, describing the visits as a symbolic exercise designed for publicity rather than a genuine effort to reconnect with grassroots party workers. He further accused Thackeray of allowing his personal ego to weaken and destroy the party.

According to Shirsat, the constituency visits undertaken by the former chief minister were not aimed at strengthening the party's ground-level organization. Instead, the Maharashtra Minister characterized the tour as a public relations stunt. Shirsat argued that the outreach was a symbolic gesture focused on drawing media attention and the public eye, rather than addressing the actual concerns of the party workers who remain in those areas.

A major point of contention raised by Shirsat was Thackeray’s claim concerning the political careers of the rebel Lok Sabha MPs. Thackeray had previously asserted that these rebel MPs owed their past electoral victories entirely to his leadership and guidance. Shirsat openly rejected this claim on Saturday, stating that the former chief minister’s leadership was not the sole reason these representatives won their previous election campaigns.

Shirsat went on to accuse Thackeray of letting his ego get in the way of the party's well-being. He claimed that Thackeray's ego has actively worked to weaken the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction. This public confrontation highlights the intense and ongoing political rivalry between the two opposing Shiv Sena factions in Maharashtra, which continue to engage in a highly public war of words over party leadership, legacy, and electoral influence.

The verbal clash on Saturday emphasizes the deep divisions within the state's political landscape. The ongoing feud between the rival Shiv Sena factions remains highly active, with leaders from both sides frequently trading public accusations. Shirsat's latest remarks in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar represent another chapter in this continuous conflict, focusing on the legitimacy of Thackeray's leadership and the reasons behind the party's internal divisions.
