School Holiday Declared In Seven Raigad Talukas On July 2 Due To Heavy Rain Warning

The Raigad district administration has officially declared a holiday for all educational institutions in seven talukas, including Panvel, Alibag, and Uran, on Thursday, July 2, 2026. The decision comes in response to a severe weather warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in isolated parts of the district.

According to the official order, which was issued on Wednesday by the Raigad District Collector alongside the District Disaster Management Authority, all schools in the specified regions must remain closed on Thursday. The temporary closure has been implemented as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff during the predicted heavy downpours.

The directive applies broadly to all levels of education within the seven talukas. This includes all local anganwadis, primary schools, secondary schools, and higher secondary schools. Local authorities have instructed these institutions to suspend all operations.

The seven talukas where the holiday has been declared are Alibag, Panvel, Uran, Shrivardhan, Tala, Poladpur, and Mhasla. Residents and school communities in these specific areas have been advised of the closure following the Wednesday announcement.

The India Meteorological Department's forecast indicated that the district is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, with extremely heavy rainfall expected to hit isolated locations. Given the potential hazards associated with such extreme weather conditions, the District Disaster Management Authority and the Raigad District Collector decided that keeping the educational institutions closed was the safest course of action.

With the order in place, all anganwadis, primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools in Alibag, Panvel, Uran, Shrivardhan, Tala, Poladpur, and Mhasla will remain closed on Thursday, July 2, 2026, as the region prepares for the forecasted heavy rains.
