Scooter Rider Booked In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar For Five-Person Instagram Stunt
The Cantonment Police in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have registered a case against scooter rider Adnan Pathan after a viral video surfaced showing five individuals executing a reckless stunt on a single two-wheeler along the Panchakki-Aurangpura stretch. The stunt occurred on the afternoon of September 1, and the police registered the case on the night of September 4.
Police initiated action following a formal complaint lodged by Head Constable Mahashankh Namdevrao Dandge. Pathan was booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act for riding at excessive speed and in a dangerous manner. Police confirmed that further investigation into the incident is underway.
The viral footage showed five people mounted on the scooter attempting a stunt to record an Instagram reel. In the clip, one person was suspended in the air, supported only by the other four individuals seated on the moving vehicle as it travelled through traffic.
The rider was also seen operating the two-wheeler without wearing a helmet while navigating through a busy road. The manoeuvre violated traffic rules and placed both the occupants and other road users, including motorists and pedestrians, at severe risk. The episode has added to growing concerns over youths performing life-threatening road stunts to generate social media content.
Following the stunt, Pathan appeared later in the video with folded hands to deliver an apology. “Sitting on this vehicle, five of us made a reel on Instagram. We did not follow traffic rules. We made a mistake. This was our mistake, for which we received our punishment,” he said.
Pathan further admitted to the hazard posed to the public, stating, “By driving like this, along with endangering ourselves, we also put the public's lives at risk.” He promised that the group would not repeat such acts, undertaking that no more than two people would travel on their vehicle, that they would wear helmets, and that they would avoid creating dangerous material for Instagram, WhatsApp, or Facebook while appealing to motorists to follow traffic laws.
