Seven Injured in Fire at MK Chambers in Bandra

Seven people, including a 12-year-old child, were injured after a fire broke out on Saturday morning in the B wing of MK Chambers, a residential building located in Bandra.

The blaze was reported at 10:23 am in the building's B wing. Emergency responders moved all seven injured residents to Bhabha Hospital, where medical staff confirmed that all patients are in stable condition and recovering.

MK Chambers, which is now a ground-plus-seven-storey residential structure, has a storied past tied to the Mumbai underworld. The location holds historical links to the violent fallout between mob boss Dawood Ibrahim and his former aide Chhota Rajan following their split in 1993.

Roughly 27 years ago, the property stood as a ground-plus-one-storey chawl. At that time, the first floor was used for residences, while the ground floor was reserved for commercial operations.

According to information from local residents, the ground-floor office space was previously occupied by Majid Khan, a prominent real estate figure linked to syndicate money laundering. Khan was gunned down at the site on March 1, 1999, by hitmen from the Rajan gang as part of the violent gangland conflict of that era.
