Seven Mumbai Athletes Win Gold at South Asian Boxing Langdi Championship in Bhutan

Seven young athletes from Mumbai have won individual gold medals and helped India secure the championship trophy at the South Asian Boxing Langdi Championship held in Bhutan.
The seven champions—Viraj Bhilare, Gaurav Sonawane, Rugved Rahul Mohite, Prathamesh Chavan, Shri Dhadham, Prathamesh Pagare, and Rishabh Ingle—grew up in Mumbai’s chawls and ordinary families. Despite facing financial constraints, limited resources, and a lack of proper training facilities, the players progressed from public playgrounds to make their mark at the international level.
All seven players claimed individual gold medals during the tournament, contributing directly to India's overall victory and securing the championship trophy at the regional competition.
Their performance drew widespread notice after Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan highlighted their achievements on social media. Chavan praised the young athletes for overcoming financial hardships and inadequate training infrastructure to achieve success on the international stage.
The recognition helped draw attention to the team's achievement, prompting positive responses online and acknowledging the perseverance of the young athletes.
