Sharad Pawar Meets Eknath Shinde at Legislative Campus to Discuss State Issues

On Wednesday, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar held a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at Shinde's official office in the legislative campus. The meeting took place immediately after Pawar attended a high-power committee meeting regarding the Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute at the legislature.

According to Shinde's office, the discussion was conducted in a cordial environment. Both leaders mutually agreed that dialogue and communication on matters concerning state interests must continue, despite their existing political differences.

The meeting occurred amid ongoing speculation about potential political developments within the NCP (SP). A group of leaders is reportedly pressuring the party leadership to make a decision on whether to join the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Earlier in the day, during the high-power committee meeting on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border issue, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that the state government stands firmly with the Marathi-speaking people in the border region. Fadnavis stated that the government will make every effort to protect their rightful claims and legitimate rights.

To support this commitment, Fadnavis announced that senior legal experts will be appointed to expedite the hearing of the border case in the Supreme Court. The state government will also provide competent legal aid to Marathi-speaking residents who are facing various lawsuits in Karnataka.

Fadnavis added that the government is prepared to take action on all suggestions and pending issues raised by the committee. Additionally, compiled information regarding the Linguistic Minorities Commission will be sent to all Members of Parliament from Maharashtra so the issue can be raised in Parliament.

The high-level committee meeting was attended by several leaders, including Pawar, Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Lok Sabha MP Narayan Rane, Minister for Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai, and Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif.
