Shiv Sena UBT Demands Dharmendra Pradhan Resign Over NEET and Sonam Wangchuk Protest

On 13 July 2026, the Mumbai-based political party Shiv Sena (UBT) demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The demand, made through an editorial in the party's mouthpiece Saamana, comes amid the ongoing NEET-UG examination controversy and the central government's response to activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike.

In the editorial published in Mumbai, Shiv Sena (UBT) launched a sharp attack on the central government over its handling of education-related issues. The party accused the government of failing to address the NEET-UG examination controversy, which has sparked widespread concern.

Additionally, the party condemned the government's response to activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is currently on an indefinite hunger strike. The editorial accused the government of ignoring Wangchuk's deteriorating health as his protest continues.

Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike for the past 15 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. To increase political pressure on the central government, the Shiv Sena (UBT) editorial made an appeal to opposition parties and young people nationwide to support the activist's ongoing protest.

The editorial sought to mobilize nationwide support for Wangchuk, calling on youth and opposition groups to stand with the activist at Delhi's protest site.
