Shiv Sena (UBT) Slams Maharashtra Government Over 2029 Drug-Free Goal

Shiv Sena (UBT) has criticised the Maharashtra government's pledge to make the state drug-free by 2029, labelling the initiative as "hypocritical" and an "event-driven spectacle".

The criticism was published on Thursday in an editorial in the party mouthpiece, Saamana. The Uddhav Thackeray-led party questioned the administration's performance and track record in tackling narcotics and other forms of substance abuse across the state.

In the editorial, the party raised questions about why the illegal drug trade has allegedly continued to expand in Maharashtra. It pointed out that this growth occurred despite the Bharatiya Janata Party holding power at the Centre and sharing governance in Maharashtra for several years.
