Shivaji Park Police Seize Rs 72,000 in Fake Currency in Dadar West

Shivaji Park Police registered a case after seizing 144 counterfeit currency notes worth Rs 72,000 near Shagun Hotel on DeSilva Galli in Dadar West. The seizure took place at around 5:05 pm on December 31, 2025, during patrolling by officers from the local Crime Detection Unit.
While conducting routine patrolling within the jurisdiction of Shivaji Park Police Station, Crime Detection Unit officer PSI Mangesh Jamdade and his team spotted a man behaving suspiciously near Shagun Hotel on DeSilva Galli. The police team intercepted the suspect and stopped him for questioning.
Officers conducted a detailed search of the suspect in the presence of two panch witnesses. During the search, police recovered 144 fake Indian currency notes in the denomination of Rs 500, which were found concealed in the inner pocket of the accused's underwear.
The seized counterfeit currency carries a total face value of Rs 72,000. Officers confiscated all the fake notes as part of the legal proceedings.
Shivaji Park Police registered an FIR against the accused on December 31, 2025, under Section 180 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The counterfeit notes have been taken into custody for further investigation.
