SIT to probe murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agrawal at Lohagad Fort

The state assembly of Maharashtra has formally directed the government to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a thorough probe into the murder of 26-year-old Pune realtor and trekker Ketan Agrawal. The incident took place at the historic Lohagad Fort in Pune.
The directive for the SIT was announced on Thursday by the Maharashtra Assembly Presiding Officer, Raju Khare. The decision comes amid growing demands for a deeper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the young trekker's death.
According to the police, the murder occurred on June 18, 2026. Investigators revealed that Ketan Agrawal was pushed into a deep gorge off Lohagad Fort. The police have accused his fiancee, 20-year-old Siya Goyal, and her lover, 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary, of committing the crime. Both Goyal and Chaudhary have been arrested by the authorities.
The gravity of the case led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) member Sunil Shelke to raise the issue during a session of the state assembly. Shelke strongly demanded that the family of the accused fiancee, Siya Goyal, also be named as accused in the murder case.
Shelke claimed that Goyal's family was aware of her relationship with Chaudhary but deliberately concealed this information from Ketan Agrawal’s family. He argued that this concealment played a role in the events leading up to the murder.
In response to these allegations and the demands made by the legislators, Presiding Officer Raju Khare directed the government to set up the SIT. The newly formed SIT will officially take over the investigation to probe the murder of the Pune realtor, as well as examine the demands to investigate and charge the fiancee's family for allegedly concealing the relationship.
