Streetlights Installed on Dark Stretch Outside Sion Station After Safety Concerns

Central Railway has installed streetlights along a previously dark and dangerous stretch on the east side of Sion railway station in Mumbai, addressing commuter safety concerns regarding the approach road.

The poorly lit pathway had become a significant source of anxiety for daily commuters navigating the area at night. The lack of adequate illumination created unsafe conditions, with women reporting instances of inappropriate touching along the dark alley.

In addition to harassment, the poorly lit conditions contributed to criminal incidents. One man recounted being robbed of his chain while walking along the unlit stretch near the station.

Following inquiries highlighting the safety hazards and commuter distress, Central Railway acted promptly to resolve the problem by installing functional lights along the approach road to secure the area for pedestrians and railway passengers.
