Sunetra Pawar Seeks Fast-Track Trial in Junnar Minor Assault and Murder Case

Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar on Wednesday announced that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the alleged sexual assault and murder of a nine-and-a-half-year-old girl in Pimpalwandi village of Junnar taluka in Pune district.
Speaking on the matter, Pawar termed the incident shocking and deeply distressing. She stated that she had contacted Pune Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill by phone to review the progress of the investigation.
Pawar instructed the police administration to carry out a transparent and thorough inquiry into the crime and ensure stringent measures against the perpetrator. She confirmed that law enforcement officials have already detained a suspect and that further investigation remains underway.
To ensure swift justice, the Deputy Chief Minister said she would formally request Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to place the case before a fast-track court.
Describing the crime as extremely condemnable and an affront to humanity, Pawar demanded swift and exemplary legal consequences for the accused. She affirmed that the state government stands firmly with the victim's family during this period of grief.
Pawar also announced plans to personally visit Pimpalwandi village in the near future to meet with the bereaved family. She added that the ongoing police investigation will be closely monitored to ensure the case is pursued effectively and the guilty party is dealt with strictly under the law.
