Supriya Sule Inaugurates Office of Bhiwandi Standing Committee Chairperson Isha Khan

NCP (SP) working president and Member of Parliament Supriya Sule inaugurated the office of Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation Standing Committee Chairperson Advocate Isha Khan in Bhiwandi on Wednesday. Addressing the gathering, Sule praised the emergence of young women leaders in the city's civic politics as an inspiring development for the Gen-Z generation.

Sule commended Khan for taking on leadership responsibilities and highlighted her ability to communicate in English, Hindi, and Marathi. She noted that while veteran leader Sharad Pawar had pioneered women's reservation in politics, elected women in several places continue to be treated as proxies for their husbands. In contrast, she said Bhiwandi presented an encouraging model where a young woman took the lead with her father standing firmly behind her.

Urging women entering public life to ignore online hostility, Sule said representatives should remain focused on their responsibilities rather than being distracted by social media trolling. She added that representatives working with clear intentions and honesty have no reason to fear.

Sule also addressed local governance challenges, stating that she would raise Bhiwandi's development requirements with the state government. She announced her readiness to personally lead a delegation to the Chief Minister to seek necessary funding for municipal development projects.

Speaking at the event, Standing Committee Chairperson Isha Imran Khan stated that several civic projects across Bhiwandi were suffering due to a shortage of funds. She appealed to the state government, the Chief Minister, and the Deputy Chief Minister to release sufficient financial assistance to resolve pressing urban needs.

MP Suresh Mhatre alias Balya Mama spoke on Bhiwandi's tradition of communal unity and said development remains the collective responsibility of all elected representatives. MLA Jitendra Awhad noted that the presence of leaders across party lines reflected a positive political atmosphere and welcomed the increasing involvement of women in civic leadership.

The inauguration was attended by Mayor Narayan Chaudhary, NCP (SP) city president Shoeb Khan Guddu, municipal group leader Mushrat Ansari, former deputy mayor Imran Khan, corporators, party office-bearers, and local residents.
