Suraj Waghmare arrested for murdering 17-year-old Siddhi Vishwakarma in Kandivali

The Samta Nagar Police have arrested a 22-year-old resident of Kandivali East, Suraj Waghmare, for allegedly murdering his 17-year-old girlfriend, Siddhi Vishwakarma, in the Damu Nagar forest area of Kandivali East, Mumbai. The minor victim's body was discovered on July 10 by forest department personnel during a routine patrol of the area.
According to the preliminary police investigation, Waghmare and the victim had been in a relationship for nearly one-and-a-half years. The two had originally met at a Ganpati Mandal event. Police revealed that the accused had been pressuring the minor to marry him, but she had refused his marriage proposal.
Following her refusal, Waghmare allegedly hatched a detailed plan to kill the teenager. Investigators stated that the accused watched the television crime show 'Crime Patrol' to learn specific methods of committing murder and destroying evidence before executing his plan.
Under the pretext of giving her a unique gift, Waghmare allegedly lured Vishwakarma to the isolated Damu Nagar forest area. Once they arrived at the spot, he reportedly asked her to close her eyes and blindfolded her. He then allegedly attacked her with a knife and slit her throat. After committing the murder, he allegedly abandoned the victim's body in the forest and attempted to erase evidence of the crime.
Forest department personnel patrolling the forest area discovered the body on July 10 and immediately alerted the Samta Nagar Police. The police established the victim's identity within a short time after recovering the body. This led to a swift investigation and the subsequent arrest of Waghmare, who was identified as the prime suspect.
Waghmare has been booked for murder and is currently held in Samta Nagar Police custody. The local police stated that an active investigation is currently underway to establish the complete sequence of events and gather further evidence regarding the murder.
