Tapovan Hanuman Mandir in Malad East to Host Jagannatha Consecration Ceremony

The Tapovan Hanuman Mandir in Malad East, Mumbai, is preparing to host a two-day Prana Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony on July 14 and 15, starting at 9:00 am each day. Organised by the Shree Jagannatha Balbhadra Subhadra Charitable Trust, the sacred ritual will precede the annual Rath Utsav (Festival of Chariots), which is scheduled to run from July 16 to July 27, 2026.
The two-day Prana Pratishtha is a consecration ceremony designed to breathe life into the sacred icons of Lord Jagannatha, Balbhadra, and Subhadra. According to the organisers, this profound ritual marks a moment of unparalleled spiritual significance for the local community and visiting devotees.
The grand event is expected to draw thousands of devotees to Malad East. The attendees will gather to worship the deities, who are collectively revered as the Purna Purushottam, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Lord Jagannatha, known as the "Lord of the Universe," holds a unique and highly revered place in the Hindu pantheon, symbolising universal brotherhood and compassion.
During the two-day consecration, the temple will host a variety of traditional events. The schedule features intricate Vedic rituals, bhajans (devotional songs), and traditional pujas (offerings). Organisers state that these rituals are designed to formally invite the Prana, or life force, to reside within the beautifully crafted murti (sacred icon).
Following the consecration ceremony, the main Rath Utsav will commence on July 16 and continue through July 27, 2026. This extended festival will offer devotees a rare and sacred opportunity for darshan, or divine vision, of the deities.
The Shree Jagannatha Balbhadra Subhadra Charitable Trust has extended an open invitation to all devotees to participate in the upcoming celebrations with reverence and devotion, fostering a shared sense of community and spiritual connection.
