Taxi Drivers Face Delays and Quotas for Marathi Tests at Mumbai Central RTO

Taxi drivers appearing for mandatory Marathi language training and tests at the Mumbai Central Regional Transport Office (RTO) reported facing long queues, daily quota restrictions, and delays in receiving their completion certificates. The administrative slowdown is forcing drivers to lose several days of work while waiting to complete the required process.

According to the affected drivers, daily quota limits at the Mumbai Central facility mean that many individuals waiting in line are turned away after hours of waiting without completing their tests or receiving certification. Drivers have urged RTO officials to increase processing capacity and streamline the procedure to avoid further disruptions to their livelihoods.

"We were made to wait for hours, with many returning without completing the process due to daily quota restrictions," one driver reported regarding the situation at the testing center.

The drivers stated that spending multiple days in queues and navigating delays directly impacts their daily earnings, leading to widespread calls for immediate improvements in how the Marathi language tests and certificates are administered.
