Tempo Driver Arrested After Fatal Bike Crash Kills Student in Sakinaka

A junior college student died after the motorcycle he was riding pillion on was struck by a speeding tempo near Jari Mari Maxus Cinema in Sakinaka. The Sakinaka police subsequently arrested the tempo driver in connection with the fatal collision.

The deceased was identified as Wakas Shaikh, a second-year science student. According to police officials, the impact of the crash flung Shaikh into the air before he landed heavily on the road, sustaining severe chest injuries.

Following the incident, the Sakinaka police traced and arrested the tempo driver, identified as 29-year-old Mohammed Rizwan. Investigators were able to identify and locate Rizwan after a pedestrian who witnessed the crash captured a photograph of the fleeing vehicle on a mobile phone.

Shaikh was initially attended to following the crash, with his family receiving notification of the incident via a phone call from Central Hospital in Sakinaka. He was later admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar for advanced treatment. Despite medical efforts, Shaikh succumbed to his injuries approximately 12 hours later while in the ICU.

Family members noted that Shaikh had only recently returned to his Class 12 classes after recovering from a period of ill health. He had resumed his studies three days prior to the incident after being on medical leave.

The victim's uncle, 31-year-old Faizal Riyaz Ahmed Shaikh, stated that he and Wakas's father, Ahmed Shaikh, were working at their office when they were alerted to the accident. At 12:53 pm, the father received a call from Central Hospital informing him that Wakas had met with an accident near Jari Mari Maxus Cinema. The family rushed immediately to the medical facility, where Wakas was undergoing intensive treatment before later passing away.
