Thane Court Acquits Sanjay Yadav in 2014 Wife Murder Case

A court in Maharashtra's Thane district has acquitted a 29-year-old man accused of murdering his wife in 2014, observing that the prosecution's case relied heavily on an uncorroborated dying declaration and suffered from a significant delay in filing the complaint.

Additional Sessions Judge V L Bhosale acquitted the accused, Sanjay Jogeshwar Yadav, of multiple charges including murder, wrongful confinement, and criminal intimidation in connection with the death of his wife, Rama.

During the trial, the court scrutinised the evidence presented by the prosecution. It observed that the key pillar of the state's case was a dying declaration that lacked necessary corroboration.

Taking into account the lack of supporting evidence to substantiate the dying declaration, along with the notable delay in lodging the formal complaint, Additional Sessions Judge Bhosale cleared Yadav of all charges.
