Thane Model Arrested After Razor Attack on RPF and Railway Staff on Aravali Express

A 31-year-old Thane-based model and actor, Antara Banerjee, was arrested by the railway police after allegedly attacking a ticket collector, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, and inflicting injuries on herself with a razor blade aboard a Surat-bound train on the night of August 12.
The incident took place on the Bandra-Ganganagar Aravali Express while Banerjee was travelling from Mumbai to Surat to shoot for an upcoming web series. The disturbance began inside an air-conditioned coach when a passenger asked Banerjee, who was occupying a reserved seat, to move. When she refused to vacate the seat, the passenger alerted the ticket collector and RPF personnel on duty.
According to officials, Banerjee responded aggressively to the intervention and verbally abused the staff and passengers who stepped in. As the confrontation escalated, she allegedly undressed herself and attacked the ticket collector and RPF personnel with a razor blade, while also causing injuries to herself. The entire episode lasted for more than an hour and left fellow passengers inside the coach shaken.
Banerjee was deboarded from the train when it arrived at Dahanu railway station and was handed over to railway police. The Borivli railway police took her into custody the following morning and registered a case against her for assault, endangering lives, and self-inflicted injuries during the commotion.
Borivli Government Railway Police inspector Kunda Gavade said, "Witnesses stated that Banerjee seemed depressed as she could not get a ticket for the AC coach and had entered the compartment with a sleeper class ticket."
Authorities noted that when officials suggested that she reach out to her relatives or contact legal counsel, Banerjee refused to cooperate and insisted on being arrested instead.
