Thane Police Arrest Advocate for Running Prostitution Racket from Kalyan East Hotel

The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the Thane Police arrested a senior woman advocate on Saturday for allegedly operating a prostitution racket from a hotel in Kalyan East. During the crackdown, police officers successfully rescued two women who were allegedly being forced into the flesh trade.

The operation began after the AHTC received confidential information regarding the advocate, who practices at both the Kalyan and Panvel courts. Investigators learned that the suspect was allegedly exploiting financially vulnerable women by pushing them into prostitution. Acting on this tip-off, officers launched a discreet surveillance operation at the Kalyan East hotel and monitored the activities there for several days.

To verify the intelligence they had gathered, police personnel visited the hotel in plainclothes, posing as regular customers. After obtaining sufficient evidence of the illegal activities, the AHTC coordinated a joint operation with the local Kolsewadi police to conduct a well-planned raid on Saturday.

Before entering the premises, the police team secured all possible exit points of the hotel to prevent any escapes. They then sent decoy customers inside, which ultimately led to the arrest of the accused advocate and the rescue of the two victims.

S G Nail, a police inspector from the Kolsewadi police station, stated that preliminary investigations indicate the advocate had been operating the racket for nearly three months. Inspector Nail added that the police are currently probing whether more women were trafficked by the accused and are working to identify any other persons involved in the operation.

Following the arrest, a case was registered against the senior advocate under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Further investigation into the trafficking racket is underway.
